First day of rehearsals with the artists today and here's a very trimmed down collection of clips from a long afternoon. It seemed like legend after legend walked through the doors of the rehearsal studios throughout the whole day.
Was personally extremely happy to chat with Elliot Randall (he of the Reelin' In The Years riff). Steely Dan were always a huge favourite of mine in my younger years - and today he brought with him the Strat he played THAT riff on.
It was great to witness Albert meeting up with these guys, some of them the first time in years. But especially moving was the deep respect and love these guys have for Albert, which is why they are all so happy to come and help him celebrate his 70th at the Cadogan Hall this weekend.
From a technical standpoint (getting back to my main job...) I hooked up my laptop to the Dante network (over Ethernet) and let 48 tracks of direct audio from the Yamaha CL5 desk record for nearly 5 hours. Ran beautifully without a hitch. On the concert nights we will have an additional 2 laptops running as backups - definitely do not want to risk missing a single second of these concerts - think they are going to be something truly remarkable.
